at this point, we have created multiple hair strands that connect the root of the hair strand with the tip of the hair strand. we also generated all of the cut pieces of the hair strand. now it is time to animate the cut pieces.
we are using the audio system to create some random percussive sounds. once the hair is animated, it is time to bake it to the image. after we are happy with the image, we convert the cut pieces to regular hair strands.
the first thing that we’ll need to do is mess with the hair guides. apply a curve modifier to the hair. click the add a curve modifier button, as shown in figure 10. the curve modifier will pop-up in the outliner (shown in figure 11) and will name the curve, “shave-hair2 curves.”
the curve may be moved by clicking it and dragging it into a position. clicking the curve will draw the curve from the last click point and move it to the new location. let’s move the curve up so it matches the beak. you can see that the curve has been repositioned as seen in figure 12.
you’ll notice that the original curve is still visible as shown in figure 13. this is typical of curve modifiers and the outliner will always show the original curve that you’ve applied. in this case, we want to remove the hair and add a new hair. let’s click and drag the curve to remove it.
all that we need to do now is add a new hair node. this can be done with the hair select menu. simply select the add hair node button in the shave and haircut panel. the hair select menu will populate with the hair nodes already stored in the outliner window, as seen in figure 14.
